I’ve been watching videos lately in which students ask questions and participate in dialogues with nonduality teachers, and I am surprised, dismayed and maybe kinda saddened by how far off the rails this whole thing has gotten. Maya is successfully subverting the entire field, rerouting it into her spiritual marketplace and repackaging it so it no longer resembles its original face or performs its original function. This is not surprising when it happens to navel-gazing or chakra-tuning, but when it happens to nonduality, it is.
