By trying to hack into your programming, you’re violating what Alan Watts called the taboo against knowing who you are. Dreamstate reality can’t withstand what Voltaire called the assault of sustained thinking because, as Oscar Wilde said, nothing survives being thought of. The security of the dreamstate depends on ensuring that no one thinks, which, as we learn on the journey of awakening, no one does. That came as a pleasant surprise to me because it meant that my unexceptional intellect did not disqualify me from playing our game.
