If monomania is a form of insanity, then yes, awakening from the dreamstate requires madness. One must become mad, embrace madness, dive deep into madness and swim in its frigid-boiling waters. But to me, having gone through it all, it seems not like madness maddened but radical sanity. If you believe in your madness that you are sane and no one else is, and if that belief can withstand all scrutiny, then are you mad or transcendentally sane? Good question. (Sane, by the way.)
