Strictly speaking, nonduality doesn’t destroy the universe, only the subjective impression of a universe. There was never a real universe to destroy in the first place, just the dream of one. Thought doesn’t destroy the dreamstate any more than waking up destroys a dream; neither dream nor dreamstate have any actual existence to destroy. You don’t have to murder the people and nuke the places in your nighttime dreams in order to wake up, you just wake up and they’re gone as if they were never there — mainly because they never were. In fact, there was never even a there there. What we’re freeing ourselves of is illusion, which can’t be destroyed because it doesn’t exist.
