From our perspective, the only point of a caterpillar is a butterfly, but butterflies are outside the caterpillar’s conceptual framework, so all they want is to be better caterpillars.

Caterpillars know nothing of butterflies. They don’t aspire to greater things or dream beyond their lowly station. Sometimes, one dies in a shell and is seen no more, but even if it were revealed in its new incarnation, it wouldn’t be recognized as Bob from work.
