Every man is an island, entire of itself. We are all in it alone. This is the truth we deny at any price. This denial is job one. This is, first and foremost, what we do and who we are; the creators and maintainers of our private island habitats. Only bonkers people could perform such a flagrant deception and only highly gullible people could be fooled by it, but even the belief that you’re a person is part of your delusion.
