The Name of the Game

Suffering is due entirely to clinging or resisting.
It is a sign of our unwillingness to move on,
to flow with life.

The student-teacher dynamic is not workable between us because you’re not really a student and I’m not really a teacher. You’re more like a clogged toilet and I’m more like the guy you call in your Dark Night of the Bowl to pump out the blockage and restore free flow. And that, as they say, is the name of the game — flow and obstruction.

Waking up is not about setting the process in motion but lowering your defenses against it. You don’t have to mastermind it, you just have to unblock it and, like removing a solid mass from a toilet or a dam from a mountain lake, the rest takes care of itself.
