The religions of mankind must be classed among the
mass-delusions of this kind. No one, needless to say,
who shares a delusion ever recognizes it as such.
Imagine you’re the only adult in a household full of teens. Due to some fiendish, faddish fan-flick of the moment, your household is divided into Team Werewolf and Team Vampire. The youthful participants take this business fairly seriously, even using babysitting and lawnmowing monies to buy t-shirts, temporary tattoos and lifelike figurines in support of their beloved monsters. (Back in my day, it was Team Paul and Team John, but I was on Team Mets.) All well and good. You, as an adult in this household, are somewhat relieved that the kids are up to something silly and harmless. You wink at their folly. You were young once and they’ll be old soon enough.
