On Function

The two most important days in life
are the day you are born and the day
you find out why.

I work for the books. This writing is my purpose. I am not the boss of my purpose, just an able functionary. I am not the decider or boss of anything, I just do as is mine to do. All my decisions are made for me. I could no more operate outside of these parameters than I could slip quietly back into the herd and pretend I never left.

My function is to express and project my unique pattern. I produce it and release it; what it does in the world is no concern of mine. Is my function important? Of course not, but it’s mine and it’s really the only thing that is. To not fulfill my function is unthinkable because it would cause me a direct and ever-worsening pain.
