Nietszche famously said amor fati, love your fate, but what if your fate is not your own? What if your fate is not your authentic fate, but was inflicted on you by some non-self agent or agency? Should you love your fate if it’s not really yours? In that case, instead of love your fate, how about hate your fate, fuck your fate, kill your fate? Resist it, defy it, change it. You have your own genuine fate, but plodding to the beat of the shuffling herd isn’t it. Renounce your imposed fate and discover your own. That’s what waking up is all about; taking back what was taken from you.
