No sooner do we get our first taste of freedom than we spit it out like poison. Marriage, career and children are a few of the emotional elements that lead to lifelong stagnation. They are the equivalent of taking on ballast, of redoubling your degree of attachment. The herd wants us fat, dumb and obedient, and the mass of men are happy to comply.
