All the major ministries – education, government, pharma, food, finance, justice, medicine, religion, science, and all their many sub-ministries – work for our real-world Big Brother, Maya, whose sole mission is to keep we-the-sheeple hovering in a narrow band of semi-sentience; more than catatonic but less than alert. It is not her function simply to keep us contained, but to hold us within an optimal range of drama-conducive sub-lucidity. She’s either very good at it, or we’re not putting up much of a fight.
