Spiritual seekers, like their religious counterparts, are a gullible bunch who fall for all sorts of crazy crap, whereas sincere, insight-based nondualists are defeated not by obviously false teachings but mostly true teachings. You can tell most people whatever goofy-ass shit you want and they’ll believe it as long as their neighbors do. The only thing that makes Linus a headcase for awaiting the Great Pumpkin every Halloween is that he waits alone. If the rest of the gang came out, he’d be a thumb-suckin’ bankie-huggin’ pumpkin-praisin’ prophet. The only difference between a lone nut, a cult and a major religion is not quality of narrative or coherence of cosmology, but number of adherents. If a lot of people believe the same bullshit, it’s not bullshit anymore, it’s gospel.
